Girls Section

Khalid MaqboolImage1 Realizing the dearth of quality education for the Girls of Southern Punjab coupled with the increasing demand and requests of the parents of the area the President Board of Governors, SPS/the Governor Punjab, Lt. Gen. Khalid Maqbool decided to induct Girls at Sadiq.

 

Prof. Muhammad Asif Malik, the Principal was given the task of finalizing the plan for a separate Girls Section. He took the bold initiative and with his vast experience and untiring efforts, he made the dream of the parents of the area come true and on 6th May, 2003, it started with 9 Girls, a landmark in the history of SADIQ. The next day there were 11 Girls and by December 2003 the strength grew to 44.The opportunity of a standard education was provided to the Girls of the area for which the parents were highly obliged.

The Girls were housed in the Junior School building. Five new Classrooms were constructed and by 2007, the Girls Section comprised of the whole West Wing of the Junior School. The addition of the Girls Section gave a new dimension to Sadiq.

A purpose built Girls’ Section was planned to be constructed on an area of 40 acres. The President UAE, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed very graciously undertook the task of funding and constructing one half of the Girls Academic Building; construction started on January 19, 2006.4
Maliha Hassan, who had been teaching in the Senior School, was given the responsibility of the Girls as House Mistress. The first Girls House, Fatima House was formed on September15, 2003 with the motto, ‘Seek Strength through Patience & Prayer’.

The first batch of 9 Girls appeared in Intermediate Examination in 2005. All nine girls got 1st Divisions and a School record was set. All nine Girls got admission in various Medical Colleges of Pakistan.


Boarding House

The Girls Section is flourishing by leaps & bounds. After successful induction of Girls in Sadiq, the parents of the surrounding areas demanded for the opening of a Boarding House for Girls.

There was no such facility available for Girls in the whole of Southern Punjab, Baluchistan and Sindh and the Boarding House would cater the need of the people of these areas. Lt. Gen Khalid Maqbool (R) the Governor Punjab was the main force behind the induction of Girls and starting the Boarding House. He took keen interest in the projects. The GOC, Maj. Gen Khalid Naeem Lodhi, Chairman, Executive Committee, SPS visited SD House on March 15,2006 for assessing the possibility of housing the Girls.

The Girls Hostel started functioning on 29 August, 2006 with 21 Girls and within a short span of 9 years became saturated with 106 Girls.


Commissioning of the Girls Academic Block

The beautifully designed building with exotic fittings of the new Academic Block for Girls was commissioned on July 25, 2008. The levelling of ground and landscaping took another three months and the Girls shifted from the Junior School to the newly constructed Girls Block on October 6, 2008.

The Chairman and Members of Executive Committee, SPS visited the Girls Section and attended the first Morning Assembly on 06-10-2008.


Induction of Matric Stream
On April 15, 2008 Matric Stream was introduced for Girls. The first batch of 18 Girls appeared in the Matric Board Exam in the year 2011.The result was 100%.

Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular

Swimming For Girls
Adjustments were made in one of the existing Swimming Pools and the Girls started swimming in October 2009; Sadiq thus, became the first boarding school of Pakistan where Girls are enjoying the art of Swimming. The following new programmes were introduced for Girls in 2010.

  • Cross country race for Girls.
  • Drill Contingent of Girls at the Founders’ Day.
  • Inter House Performing Arts Competition
  • Introduction of Football, Handball and Cricket 

Cross Country Race, Girls
The first ever Cross Country Race was organized for Girls on February 3, 2010.

On the occasion of 56 Founders’ Day on March 1, 2010, the first ever Contingent of Girls was included in the March past. It was another landmark in the history of Girls Section at Sadiq. About 50 Girls from Classes P7, C1, S1, C2, H1, and I1 were given practice and they excellently presented the March Past.

Riding -Girls

Girls were trained in Horse Riding and Sadiq got a status of the first ever educational institution in Pakistan offering horse riding facility to girls.
